Sustainability ARCHIVE -- Information for Developers

Green building is a growing trend, especially in the ecologically forward Pacific Northwest, and as more and more homeowners become environmentally-conscious, the demand for green building and practices is only going to increase.

Case Studies of Completed Projects

It's an exciting new field and as your community management partner, we look forward to being part of it. We want to highlight the sustainable practices that you're already following so if you have a program already in place, let us know about it so we can spread the word. And if you're interested in a sustainability focus and need a place to start, we've provided a few resources to get you started. Contact us to learn more.

PREVIOUS MONTHS' INFORMATION

  • Information Resources. Portland's Office of Sustainable Development has become a nationwide leader in green building and practices and they're an important resource for more information on how to get involved in sustainability. They offer education and training in sustainability, programs and incentives, and collaborative options for anyone interested in this issue.

  • Get the Advantage. Earth Advantage is the green building program endorsed by the Home Builders Association of Portland. The program includes information on becoming an Earth Advantage Certified Builder, as well as educational programs and resources.

  • Become a Trade Ally. A recommendation from Energy Trust of Oregon as one of their Trade Allies can be one of the most effective ways to make your sustainable practices and programs a marketable asset of your business.

  • LEED-ing the charge. LEED stands for "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design". It's a nationally-accepted rating system for green building, design, and operation.  The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) website provides information on the history of the LEED rating, the steps for certification, and educational programs and resources.
